What a great day on the allotment!
Some days are a real drag and you feel like your swimming against the current with too much to do and too little time to do it. But then on balance there are also days where it all just seems to come together and you start to see the magic happen.
The sun was shining, the garlic and onions had started to show green shoots and I had a flask of sweet hot tea. Sorted! I has also made a great discovery which is that a manual old school drill which I saved from being thrown away is actually really good for drilling! No more running out of battery half way through a job.
So on with the work……
The area previously rough dug for the potatoes just seemed to crumble perfectly with little effort from the rake into lovely soft soil. The bits of roots left over pulled out easy and pretty quickly I had two trenches with my potatoes in ready to be covered and watered.
A good friend of mine had donated to me some rasperry canes and after speaking to a neighbour about my plan to plant these he quickly offered me more canes and boosted my raspberry population 5 fold. Like I say, it was a good day. I planted the raspeberries at leisurely pace, enjoying the sun, breakin for tea and generally feeling fulfilled.
I look forward to more days like these and cant wait to get back on the allotment.
